Basic Life Support + AED & Emergency Meds
Course Description
This course is suitable for anyone working in a dental practice and helps meet the requirements for continuous professional development set by the General Dental Council. According to the Resuscitation Council, all dental care providers, general dental practitioners, and other dental healthcare professionals should train in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including basic airway management and using a defibrillator. Dental staff should update their resuscitation skills and knowledge at least once a year.

Course Content
Our instructors have backgrounds in healthcare and emergency services, including the Paramedic Service, Fire Service, and Military. They bring a wealth of valuable knowledge and personal experience to the course.
This 3-hour Dental First Aid course covers three key modules:
- Basic Life Support: Learn essential techniques for lifesaving interventions.
- AED Use and Importance: Understand how to use a defibrillator and its key role in resuscitation.
- Emergency Medical Drugs: Know how to administer emergency drugs in various medical situations.
By the end of the course, delegates will be confident in:
- Using the ‘chain of survival’ procedure
- Opening the airway of an unresponsive patient
- Performing CPR, following the latest Resuscitation Council guidelines
- Operating a defibrillator and understanding its importance in resuscitation
- Understanding the causes of cardiac arrest
- Recognising and providing first aid for conditions such as asthma, anaphylaxis, hypoglycaemia, epilepsy, and fainting

All delegates must be 16 years and over to complete a course.
