Course Description

Mental health can affect anyone at any time, and in our busy everyday lives, it's so important to recognise this. Our First Aid for Mental Health course helps employers create a positive mental health culture at work. It gives participants the confidence and skills to spot signs that someone might be struggling with their mental health and guide them towards the right support.

  • First Aid for Mental Health

    This 1-day First Aid for Mental Health course contains six key modules:

    1. What is First Aid for Mental Health? Develop an understanding of the principles and importance of first aid for mental health.
    2. Identifying Common Mental Health Conditions: Learn to recognise signs and symptoms of common mental health issues.
    3. Starting a Conversation and Providing Advice: Gain important skills to initiate conversations and offer initial support.
    4. Boundaries and Confidentiality: Understand the importance of maintaining appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.
    5. Effects of Drugs and Alcohol: Learn about the impact of substance use on mental health.
    6. Plans for Effective Signposting in Your Workplace: Create strategies for directing individuals to further help both within and outside the workplace.

    By the end of the course, delegates will be confident in:

    • Recognising those who may be experiencing poor mental health
    • Providing first-level support
    • Knowing where to direct for further help, both inside and outside of the workplace
    • Helping employers in implementing a positive mental health culture within the workplace
  • Eligibility

    All delegates must be 16 years and over to complete a course.
